How We Choose Products

Last updated 2026-06-20

Gate 1: Real, Purchasable Product

A model must be a real product that is actively listed for sale by a legitimate retailer. We exclude concept products, pre-order-only items with no shipping history and listings that appear to be duplicates or placeholder SKUs. The product must have a complete, manufacturer-confirmed title and at least one accurate, purchasable listing.

Gate 2: Verified Buyer Demand

We require evidence of real buyer demand before including a product in our rankings. A model must have at least 100 verified owner reviews or a confirmed purchase volume that meets our minimum threshold. Products with very few reviews, regardless of how high those reviews score, are excluded because there is not enough owner data to draw reliable conclusions about real-world performance.

Gate 3: Rating of 3.8 Stars or Higher

A product must carry an average star rating of 3.8 or above from verified purchasers to be eligible for our ranked lists. This floor filters out products where a meaningful number of real buyers were dissatisfied, even when total review count is high. We do not adjust or smooth ratings, we use the verified average as reported.

Gate 4: Established, Verifiable Brand

We require that every product in our rankings come from a brand with a verifiable track record. Anonymous or unverifiable brand names, private-label listings with no manufacturer information and brands with a pattern of fraudulent review activity are excluded. Meeting this gate is not about brand size or market share. A smaller brand qualifies as long as it has a real, identifiable presence and a consistent product history. All four gates must be cleared together. Clearing three of four is not enough for inclusion.
